Kerala governor signs ordinance repealing controversial amendment to Police Act:
A special cabinet meeting was held on Tuesday and it decided to recommend Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan to promulgate an ordinance to repeal Section 118-A, following criticism from opposition party leaders who said the law could be misused to curtain freedom of speech.

The CPI(M)-led Left government had announced a day ago that it would bring another ordinance to withdraw the recent amendment. Raj Bhavan sources told PTI on Wednesday that the governor had signed the ordinance to withdraw the amendment.
